In less than 15 days from now, the City of Joy will host an exclusive couture expo – KCE (Kolkata Couture Expo 2024) – welcoming visitors and fashion brands from all over the country to join in the ethnic fashion event. In the words of its organisers, the expo is not just an exhibition but a gateway to India’s fashion culture.
The exclusive couture expo is presented by the Calcutta Saree Dealers Association and the South Calcutta Saree Dealers Welfare Association. Abhay Kumar A Tapobhumi spokesperson , Conveyed his vision of bringing ethnic fashion to the forefront of the country’s fashion industry, saying:
“From the elaborate weaves of Banarasi silk to the intricate patterns of Kanjeevaram, Indian ethnic fashion is a celebration of diversity and artistry. We host the exclusive couture expo as a platform for established and emerging fashion brands across the country to benefit from the exposure and push their business even further.”

The KCE’s first fashion expo in Kolkata was held in 2023, in the last week of August. Last year, the event witnessed an overwhelming presence of over 5,000 attendees with the active participation of more than 130 fashion brands from across the country.
With fashion brands showcasing their seasonal collections to a large crowd of retailers, wholesalers, tradelinkers, and boutique owners, the event will assume a look and feel similar to that of a Kolkata fashion show.
What adds to the appeal of KCE 2024 is that the fashion couture expo has opened its doors to any and all members of the Fashion industry. At a nominal registration fee, you get to witness the elegance of Kolkata’s rich and cultured fashion first-hand, in all its glory. Not to mention the invaluable networking opportunities you can gain through interacting with industry leaders and mass retailers at the expo.
Of the 200+ brands that are set to showcase their Durga Puja 2024 collection, three belong to the fashion house of Tapobhumi – ‘CHPYI’, ‘Tana Bana’, and ‘Label Z’.
‘Tana Bana’, the country’s leading manufacturer of designer party-wear sarees is all set to steal the show with a collection like never seen before. Its sarees – combined with the elegance of partywear with the festivities of the auspicious puja, will be revealed for the first time at the expo.
‘CHPYI’, launched in 2021, will bring to the forefront of the expo its value-addition-based, nature-inspired collection of finely printed sarees.
‘Label Z’, Tapobhumi’s latest addition, is a brand launched earlier this year, which caters to GenZ women, creating custom-sized, pre-stitched, ready-to-wear designer partywear sarees.
Sources from Maison Tapobhumi have revealed that the brands have completed the work on their festive saree collection for the upcoming Durga Puja, and will debut it in the Kolkata fashion expo.
